DMCA & COPYRIGHT POLICY

Last updated: September 4, 2026

GridSteps (“GridSteps,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects the intellectual property rights of creators, copyright owners, manufacturers, and other rights holders.

GridSteps.com (the “Site”) may reference publicly available videos, product information, documentation, images, trademarks, and other third-party materials as part of its technical and educational content.

The fact that third-party material is publicly accessible does not mean that it is free from copyright protection. GridSteps makes reasonable efforts to respect applicable copyright and intellectual property laws.

This Policy applies to copyright and related intellectual property concerns involving material published or displayed on GridSteps.com. Where applicable, GridSteps may also consider copyright procedures established under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (“DMCA”) and other relevant laws.

1. Third-Party Videos and Embedded Content

GridSteps may reference and embed videos hosted by third-party platforms, including YouTube.

Where an embedded video is used:

  • GridSteps does not host, upload, or store the original video file on its own servers.
  • The video remains hosted on the applicable third-party platform.
  • GridSteps does not claim ownership of third-party videos.
  • Copyright ownership remains with the applicable copyright owner or other rights holder.
  • GridSteps may provide attribution, creator information, and a link to the original source where reasonably available.
  • An embedded video may be accompanied by a GridSteps guide containing additional text, organization, explanations, screenshots, references, or other original material.

GridSteps does not make a blanket claim that every use of third-party material qualifies as fair use, fair dealing, or another copyright exception. Whether a particular use is permitted depends on the specific circumstances, applicable law, and rights involved.

2. Copyright Complaints

If you are a copyright owner or an authorized representative of a copyright owner and believe that material appearing on GridSteps.com infringes your copyright, you may submit a copyright infringement notification.

GridSteps will review copyright complaints submitted in good faith and may take appropriate action where warranted.

Where applicable, GridSteps may consider notices under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (“DMCA”), including 17 U.S.C. § 512, as well as other applicable copyright laws and procedures.

Submitting a copyright complaint does not automatically require GridSteps to remove the identified material. Each complaint may be reviewed based on the information provided, the circumstances involved, and applicable law.

A copyright complaint should identify the specific material at issue and provide enough information for us to locate it.

3. Copyright Notice Requirements

To help us review a copyright complaint efficiently, please provide substantially the following information:

  • Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed.
  • Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing.
  • The exact URL of the GridSteps page containing the material, whenever possible.
  • Information reasonably sufficient to allow us to contact you, including a valid email address.
  • A statement explaining why you believe the use of the material is unauthorized.
  • A statement that the information provided in the notification is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.
  • Your physical or electronic signature.

If the complaint is submitted under a specific legal procedure, additional information or formal requirements may apply.

Providing complete and accurate information helps GridSteps investigate and respond to copyright concerns more efficiently.

4. Copyright Contact

Copyright infringement notifications and other copyright-related communications may be submitted to:

GridSteps Copyright Team
Email: info@gridsteps.com

Please use “DMCA / Copyright Takedown Request” as the subject line of your email notification.

5. Processing of Copyright Notices

Upon receiving a properly submitted copyright notification, GridSteps may review the notice and the material identified in the complaint.

Where appropriate, GridSteps may:

  • request additional information from the complainant;
  • contact the relevant content creator or contributor;
  • remove or modify material;
  • disable access to specific content;
  • remove an embedded video or other third-party material;
  • temporarily restrict access while the matter is reviewed; or
  • take other reasonable action based on the circumstances and applicable law.

A copyright complaint concerning an embedded third-party video does not itself require removal of the original video from the third-party platform.

For example, if a complaint concerns a YouTube video, GridSteps may remove or modify the related GridSteps article, screenshots, references, embedded player, or other material where appropriate.

The original video remains hosted on the applicable third-party platform and remains subject to that platform’s own terms and copyright procedures.

Requests to remove a video from a third-party hosting platform should generally be submitted directly to that platform through its applicable copyright procedures.

6. Counter-Notices and Disputes

If GridSteps removes or disables access to material following a copyright complaint, the affected party may contact GridSteps to dispute the removal or provide additional information regarding the material.

Where a specific legal framework provides a formal counter-notification procedure, GridSteps may process a qualifying counter-notification in accordance with the requirements of that applicable law.

Any formal counter-notification should clearly identify the material concerned, explain the basis for the dispute, provide sufficient contact information, and include any other information required by the applicable legal procedure.

Nothing in this section is intended to create a contractual obligation for GridSteps to follow a particular copyright procedure where that procedure does not legally apply to GridSteps.

7. Repeat Infringement

Where appropriate and permitted by applicable law, GridSteps may take reasonable measures against users or contributors who repeatedly submit or publish material that infringes the rights of others.

Such measures may include removal of material, restriction of access, termination of contributor privileges, or other actions appropriate to the circumstances.

8. Trademarks and Brand Names

GridSteps may refer to product names, manufacturers, model numbers, logos, and trademarks for purposes of identifying products and explaining their operation, maintenance, repair, configuration, or use.

Third-party trademarks and brand names remain the property of their respective owners.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, references to third-party brands do not imply sponsorship, endorsement, partnership, or affiliation with GridSteps.

GridSteps does not claim ownership of third-party trademarks, logos, product names, or other protected brand assets.

9. Original GridSteps Content

Unless otherwise stated, original text, guides, explanations, page design, graphics, and other materials created by GridSteps are owned by or licensed to GridSteps.

Such materials may not be reproduced, copied, republished, distributed, or commercially exploited without appropriate authorization, except where permitted by applicable law.

Third-party materials appearing on or referenced by the Site remain subject to the copyrights, trademarks, licenses, and other rights of their respective owners.

10. Good-Faith Copyright Concerns

We encourage copyright owners and authorized representatives to contact us directly at info@gridsteps.com when a potential copyright issue can be resolved directly.

Providing complete and accurate information, including the specific URL and identification of the copyrighted work, helps us review copyright complaints efficiently.

GridSteps may request additional information where necessary to determine the nature and validity of a copyright concern.

Copyright complaints should be submitted in good faith and should contain accurate information. Knowingly submitting false or materially misleading claims may have legal consequences under applicable law.

11. No Ownership of Third-Party Materials

Unless expressly stated otherwise, GridSteps does not claim ownership of third-party videos, photographs, product documentation, trademarks, logos, product names, or other materials that may appear on or be referenced by the Site.

The presence of third-party material on the Site does not transfer ownership of that material to GridSteps.

Where GridSteps has permission, a license, or another lawful basis to use third-party material, such use remains subject to the applicable rights and terms.

12. Changes to This Policy

GridSteps may update this DMCA & Copyright Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the Site, applicable law, or our copyright practices.

Any changes will be posted on this page and reflected by an updated “Last updated” date.
